Plant shallots now!
We planted 2 varieties:
- Golden Gourmet
- Home Farm Best (passed down the generations of our family)
Planting:
- The soil was raked level
- Fertiliser was sprinkled over the plot ( a handful)
- The walking board placed over strip, to avoid walking on the soil, & compacting it.
- Rows were measured out using a tape measure & sticks put at the end of each row. The rows are 30 cm. apart.
- The measuring stick was then used to space the shallots 15cm apart.
- The shallots were pushed into the soil
- The soil was pushed back over the bulb, so that the top just sticks out.
