RHS Amateur Growers’ Summer Fruit & Vegetable Competition
The amateur growers’ Summer Fruit & Vegetable Competition at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show is on the final weekend of the show, 7 -8 July 2007. This first ever Summer Fruit and Vegetable Show is open to anyone who grows fruit or vegetables in gardens or allotments. The closing date for competition applications is 29 June 2007. There are classes for seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs. These include french beans, courgettes, shallots, coloured potatoes, spinach and kohlrabi in the vegetable categories, and blackcurrants, strawberries, gooseberries and red currants in the fruit.
The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) aims to bring all the fun and character of a local county show to London. As this is the first time the RHS have had an amateur’s fruit & veg competition, they need plenty of support!
The competition is open to anyone who grows fruit, vegetables or herbs in their own garden or allotment. For further information contact the RHS Shows Department on 020 7821 3328, or send a self-addressed A5 envelope to Shows Department, RHS, 80 Vincent Square, London SW1P 2PE, marking your envelope Fruit & Vegetable Comp HCPFS, before June 29.
