Interblog Leek Growing Project.

Posted by TopVeg - July 16th, 2007

Sara from Farming Friends has initiated an interblog leek growing project with TopVeg.

It all started when we, at TopVeg, saw the devastation the floods had caused in Sara’s vegetable garden.

veg plot after flood

Before the flood, we had been following her progress with interest. As a relatively new vegetable gardener, Sara was full of enthusiasm and had worked hard to plant a great collection of different vegetables. On May 25th Sara posted a slide show of her farm which included a picture of the vegetable garden, looking lush and full of promise.

So we shared her grief when we saw the havoc the rain had caused. We still had some leek plants left over after planting ours out, so we just put them in an envelope & posted them to Farming Friends. Unfortunately there was a postal strike, so they were delayed in the post - but, undaunted, Sara planted the leeks & set up the interblog leek growing project so that we can follow the progress of the TopVeg leeks.

The leek plants have not had the best of starts, stuck in the post, & transplanted into a previously flooded garden. But we wish them well and hope, with all our hearts, that they do their best. Good luck Sara.

  2. John

Thank you for supporting our project. The leeks will take a week or so to get going (if they do!)- so we are anxiously waiting for a report from Farming Friends.

Have you voted for your favourite lettuce in the poll at the top of this page?

    Merci beaucoup.
