Second Name the Tool Competition.

Posted by TopVeg - September 10th, 2007

Whilst our ‘mature’ gardening friends are searching in the back of their sheds for another tool to fox the modern-day gardener, we are presenting a recent tool devised by TopVeg for the 2nd Name the Tool Competition.

The question is ‘What is this tool used for?’

  1. Is it a welly scraper - so that you can scrape the mud off your boots after working hard in the muddy veg garden?

  2. Farming friends, That is an excellent guess! I have no idea what this is….but I’ll sleep on it…or send it off to my sister, Ruth. Good game!

  3. After seeing Sara’s guess, I think she is probably right and I’m way off base. I was going to guess that it was used to broadcast seeds. That will be my guess but I’m assuming I’m wrong. Since the photograph doesn’t show a part with small holes, my guess was because I couldn’t think of anything else.

As I mentioned before you have inspired me to plant a fall crop. If you are interested, I recently posted a garden story with pictures of my evolving garden through the years.

    Take care, Carver

  5. It’s not for scraping the mud off your wellies. It’s for getting your wellies off your feet!

  7. Hi TopVeg,
Is it for tying string to and then you can get a straight line when you tie the other end of the string to another one of these at the other end?
Then you can dig along the string and therefore dig in a straight line?
