Thompson and Morgan the tops in GardeningWhich
Research by Gardening Which has shown that the quality of seeds sold in packets is abysmal.
Every packet of vegetable seed tested had at least one dead seed, and the number of dead seeds ranged from 1 - 72%. Also, an average of 20% of the seeds produced abnormal seedlings.
The best supplier was Thompson and Morgan, with 83 % of their seeds producing healthy plant.

I heard a little about this on the radio yesterday - shocking, isn’t it? Especially when you consider how expensive most of those packets are. Good to have the link to the original research, so thanks for that (blogging is SO much better than other media, which don’t bother with links!)

I was surprised, and thought we were paying for gauranteed success! I will not be so worried about saving our own, now!
