Children enjoy Vegetable Gardening.

plantfamilyYoung people relish the chance to get their hands dirty and grow their own vegetables.

Twelve year old Wayne Blackman-Wickens, of Uckfield,won the children’s section of the gardening competition run by Wealden District Council, reports the Sussex

Express.

Wayne won with his flourishing vegetable garden. He told Cllr Chantal Wilson, chairman of Wealden District Council, that ‘He had taken up gardening because he was bored and wanted something interesting to do.’

A boy, of a similar age in Grimsby, has a very successful allotment. These young people must be encouraged to learn the joys of vegetable gardening.
