Leek Harvest in the Vegetable Garden.

Posted by TopVeg - November 1st, 2007

pandora-leekTopVeg has grown Pandora Leeks, for mid-season harvest, and Musselborough & Autumn Giant for a late winter crop.

The leeks were all transplanted into the vegetable garden on July 6th.

The Pandora have been ready to lift since mid October.

It is important not to pull the leeks, but to ease the roots out of the ground from beneath, with a fork, as the roots hang on tightly to the ground and the stems are likely to snap off.

PandoraLeekThe Pandora leeks have a long white stalk and plenty of green top. The Pandora are much more slender than the later varieties, which are twice as thick already.

  1. I’ve been in awe of your leeks since seeing your totally weed-free leek patch. The finished article looks just as perfect.

Thanks for commenting. Gardeners like compliments - even if they have to fish for them by showing off their best pics!
