The International Year of the Potato 2008
The International Year of the Potato 2008 was officially launched on 18 October 2007 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
At the launch, Jim Godfrey, chair of the International Potato Center said:
“World potato production is about 320 million tonnes per year and this makes potatoes the most important root and tuber food crop in the world……. tubers can be harvested before the cop reaches maturity thus providing an important role in food security which is so critical to many families.”

Congratulations - your parsnips look delicious. I bet they taste good! They look as though they did well for the first few inches - but then hit some tricky going!
Parsnips have very long roots - so deep digging is perhaps the answer! Digging is very good for you - but not much fun on a wet, wintery day - so perhaps you could grow something else- which will live happily in your patch!
Anyway, enjoy the parsnips - nothing is better than eating your own, hard-won Produce!
