How far do trailing tomatoes tumble?

Bush type (trailing) tomatoes generally grow 30 – 40cm tall and about 60cm wide.

Tumbling tomatoes can be grown in:

  • hanging baskets
  • pots lifted off the ground by blocks to prevent the tomatoes from trailing on the ground.

Do not pinch the shoots out, as you would with an upright tomato plant. Just let the trailing plants have their head, and branch out as they want. Remember trailing tomatoes may spread or tumble out 60 cm, so they need plenty of room.

  1. Hi Top Veg,
I’m covering all bases with my latest post, after getting my primroses and cowslips mixed up I found this flower that will cover for that.

    Cheers Mark
