Pinch the Top out of Broad Beans

Pinch out the top 7.5cm (3in) of the broad bean stems when the first pods are about 2.5cm (1in) long.

Removing the top of the stem will:

  • produce an earlier crop

The tops will not be wasted - they can be lightly steamed and eaten as a vegetable.
