Vegetable Garden Jobs to do in June

June is a wonderful month in the vegetable garden, with such a variety of jobs to do.

Sow:

carrot-bedContinue to sow French beans, runner beans, peas, beetroot, carrots, kohlrabi, spinach beet, lettuces & salad leaves directly into the soil.

transplanting-cabbagePlant out seedlings:

of leeks, cabbages, celariac, courgettes, squash, pumpkins, outdoor tomatoes, calabrese & purple sprouting broccoli.

blackcurrant-twigHarvest:

  • Winter sown broad beans, peas, early potatoes, garlic & shallots.
  • Salad leaves, rocket, lettuces, radish.

Other jobs:

  • mulch to conserve moistute & keep down weeds
  • stake tomatoes, peas and dwarf beans

raspberry-knot

  • net soft fruit to keep birds off

There are plenty of jobs to do in the garden in June!

  1. I wish gardens would do well where I live in the summer…it’s just too hot down here for much of anything to survive in the extreme heat. I would LOVE to have raspberry bushes!!

    Amazing how some fruits adapt to your climate - & others prefer our colder temperatures!

    We do enjoy our raspberries!
