Planting Out Leeks
First the leeks are trimmed at the top (leaves) and the bottom (roots).
Using the walking board (to prevent soil compaction) and the measuring stick, the leeks are dropped into evenly spaced holes.
In part of the bed, we made a trench before making the holes, hoping that this will make earthing up easier.
The leek holes are not filled with soil, just filled with water. For more detail click
There are two varieties of leeks in the bed:
- Pandora
Planting out the leek bed can take some time, but the leeks provide fresh vegetables throughout the winter.
