It is difficult to work in the vegetable garden when hands are uncomfortable because of itches, cracks, or cuts. Injuries and allergic reactions can be avoided by following simple rules when working in the vegetable garden.

Do you have any brands that you recommend?

I would be interested in your recommendations of gloves as well. I
have many pairs and wear out the best ones so quickly, cheap is a
big criteria. My hands are still the worst skin on my whole body,
even wearing the gloves.

It is difficult to recommend brands – because everyone has
different skin and different reactions. I buy the simplest cotton
gloves I can find – as they suit my hands. I wear them inside
other gloves – & all day & night when my hands are bad.
After years of neglect, my hands rebelled in a big way & now I try
to listen to them, and respond to their needs.
After several trips to a specialist skin consultant & after loads
of tests, I was surprised to be told to go home & use a simple
cleanser (Sebamed) & E45. But it works, although I have to be
careful with what touches my hands – & with my general health.
I have written another post about dermatitis or eczema on gardeners’ hands in more detail which I hope will be of  interest – it shows the different types of gloves with their  components.
