  • free from fat or cholesterol
  • very low in sodium (salt).

Asparagus is a good source of:

  • folic acid – vitamin B9 – important in pregnancy
  • potassium
  • dietary fibre
  • rutin – a bioflavinoid with antioxidant properties
  • asparagine – an amino acid which benefits the nervous system
