Allan has reported on his potato varieties:
Try Dunluce big crop of lovely tasting potatoes very early and can harvest early as new potatoes. I think Dunlcue is a variant of Ulster Cheiftan. Very large very thick skinned potatoes that taste excellent.
Charlotte also retains its texture well as a salad potato but can reach a decent size without loosing flavour.
red duke of york tastes good but not good boiling it as very floury and very susceptible to blight. I’ve learned how susceptible Red Duke of York and Yukon Gold is to blight !
I’m also trying quite a few others as main crop so should be able to give more feedback including some on Mayan Gold which should be interesting.
Thanks Allan – it is good to get growers reports of potato varieties.
