Good quality garden tools are expensive, so buying second hand is worth considering. If a tool is well made, of good material, and has been looked after, it will last for years. So a well maintained, quality second-hand tool is probably much more useful than a cheap, new item.
This parsnip digger is about one hundred years old, and we still use it!

Just love that parsnip digger! Use a lot of old tools, old potatoe fork is nothing out of the ordinary, but useful nonetheless. My favourite is a wide field hoe, ideal for wider spaced brasica, pumpkins etc. It takes a little getting used to, but kept clean it slides though the ground (and weeds).

Hi Kevin
My favourite too! We saw them being used on a market garden near Cambridge 20 years ago. Unfortunately the market garden has gone – don’t know where all the diggers went!
