Plant a Pair of Pants #soilmyundies

Plant a pair of cotton pants in your vegetable garden to check the health of your soil biology.

If when you dig them up after eight weeks, just the waist band is left and the biology has dissolved the 100% natural carbon of the cotton, then you know that the soil is pretty healthy.  If the pants are still in one piece, and after a wash they can be worn again, you have a problem.

There may not be enough oxygen in the soil because it is compacted, or the soil may be too dry because it lacks organic matter.  For some reason the soil is not providing the soil micro-organisms with the things they need to flourish.  But plant roots need healthy soil micro-organisms to enable the plant to reach its full potential.

Follow this experiment on #soilmyundies .   Farmers and gardeners all over the world are burying cotton pants to see how active their soil biology is.
